What is Emergency Dentistry?

At Art Dentistry Center, our emergency services are used to treat patients suffering from a variety of dental emergencies and injuries. Our team can treat most common emergencies in-office with same-day urgent care.

Common dental emergencies include:

  • Severe toothache
  • Gum abscesses
  • Pain when chewing
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Pain or swelling due to a tooth abscess
  • Loosened teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Knocked out teeth
  • Sports-related injuries such as lacerations to the lips or cheeks
  • Loose or missing fillings
  • Loose or broken crowns
  • Loose or broken bridges
  • Other damaged restorations

Remember, a chipped or cracked tooth may lead to a cavity. While the pain may be bearable, waiting too long to seek treatment may lead to serious consequences, like tooth decay or even tooth loss.

What is Not Considered a Dental Emergency?

It’s important to be able to tell the difference between a dental emergency and a non-emergency situation. That way, you know when it’s necessary to come in for same-day urgent care and when it’s safe to wait for an appointment. The following are examples of standard dental procedures that can wait for an appointment:

  • Routine visits, cleanings, and x-rays
  • Regular visits for braces
  • Tooth whitening
  • Removal of teeth or cavities that aren’t painful
  • I’ve recently had a dental procedure, should I go in for my follow-up appointment?

Consult with Dr. Saluja prior to any post-op appointments. If you’ve had a procedure where dressings or stitches need to be removed, that would require an in-person visit.

Emergency Care for Children

At Art Dental Center, we see patients of all ages. When your child experiences a dental injury, it’s easy to panic. However, it’s important to stay calm and give us a call so we can tackle the problem in a timely manner.

When dealing with any emergency situation, it’s best to be proactive to prevent further damage or discomfort. We may suggest temporary at-home remedies, such as a cold compress or over-the-counter pain relievers.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, you should call 9-1-1. Otherwise, we may suggest applying a cold compress or over-the-counter medicine as a temporary solution. At your earliest convenience, schedule an appointment with us to reduce pain and decrease the risk of further damage.

We accept most traditional insurance plans and offer flexible payment plans to ensure each patient receives the care they need.Dr. Saluja also accepts checks, cash, and credit cards as forms of payments. Please see our Financial Coordinator for details or for more information.
