Your dentist should, first and foremost, have a dental degree from an accredited program. The proper education is vital to a dentist’s practice, as it ensures you’re safe in their office.
You may also want to ask your dentist about their continuing education and any additional training they’ve undergone to make their practice more comprehensive and up-to-date.
A good dentist genuinely cares about your well-being when you’re in their office. Your dentist should make sure you’re comfortable with your treatment and that you feel okay during the procedure. While some discomfort is unavoidable, they may be able to help you if you’re in pain.
You should feel comfortable expressing your discomfort with your dentist. If your dentist is gentle and compassionate, they’ll listen and try to help.
